PCB forms bid committee for PSL
Governing Board keen to revive plans for lucrative T20 league
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a bid committee to oversee the awarding of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) rights in an effort to revive the plan of launching its own lucrative T20 league.
The PSL has remained a distant dream despite two previous attempts led by former PCB chiefs Zaka Ashraf and Najam Sethi.
Now the plan has been revisited with the Governing Board’s (GB) approval.
The GB has named Sethi as chairman of the PSL Bid Committee’s, while the members include PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed, Badar Khan, Salman Naseer and Zaki Rahman; Shoaib Naveed has been assigned the post of secretary.
It was also agreed that a long-term plan encompassing the way forward for the PCB in terms of the guidelines specified by the board be presented at the next meeting.
It was further decided that the Annual General Meeting of the Board will be convened in April.
The board members also examined the draft model constitutions of clubs and District Cricket Associations and formed a committee to present recommendations for approval in the next meeting.
A minute of silence was observed at the outset of the meeting in the memory of the martyred children who lost their lives in the unfortunate terror incident in Peshawar’s Army Public School.
The governing board examined the draft Model Constitutions of Clubs and District Cricket Associations and constituted a committee to finalize the same and present recommendations before the BoG at its next meetings for approval. The Committee comprises of Najam Sethi (Chairman), Shakil Shaikh, Ejaz Farooqui, Ahmed Shahzad Rana, Saqib Irfan and Salman Naseer.
In addition, a media committee was also formed to formulate a media policy with Sethi being its chairman as well.
