A Civil Aviation Authority official has been suspended after two Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft came at a ‘dangerous’ distance due to negligence.

The two aircraft were in Karachi airport’s airspace when they were a mere 1,000 feet apart from each other, Express News reported.

As per initial details, one aircraft was taking off and the other was landing when they 'nearly' crashed but luckily the incident was avoided.

Blaming the incident on an official’s negligence, DG Civil Aviation Authority has reportedly suspended the official on shift at the time,  Express News reported.

A mild rebuke for putting 100's of lives at risk. Why is it always a low level official that bears the brunt. Who bears responsibility for hiring and training and qualifying air traffic control personnel? Unless responsibility is taken above the chain, its business as usual.
