A recently surfaced video shows Florida police officers making controversial remarks about rapper Julio Foolio after his death earlier this summer.
Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones, was celebrating his 26th birthday on June 23 when he was fatally shot outside the Holiday Inn Tampa North. Five suspects have since been linked to the crime: Isaiah Chance (also known as Gudda Zay), Sean Gathright, Rashad Murphy, Alicia Andrews, and Davion Murphy, who remains at large.
The video, believed to have been recorded during an interrogation with Foolio’s alleged killer, Gudda Zay (Isaiah Chance), captures an officer disparaging the rapper. "I think he’s a piece of sh*t… he was asking to be killed… I can’t believe it took this many years for somebody to kill him, honest to god," the officer is heard saying.
The comments have ignited mixed reactions on social media, with some condemning the officer’s tone while others speculate that the remarks were a tactic to elicit a confession.

The suspects face serious charges in connection with the rapper’s murder. In August, Chance and Andrews entered pleas of not guilty to four counts of premeditated first-degree murder. Gathright pleaded not guilty to two counts of premeditated first-degree murder, attempted murder, and evidence tampering.
On October 9, Florida’s State Attorney’s Office filed a motion to pursue the death penalty for Chance, Gathright, and Rashad Murphy if they are convicted. Andrews was not included in the notice for capital punishment.
