Suspects held trying to rescue injured accomplice
Encounter took place when the two suspects riding a motorcycle were looting passers-by on gunpoint

At least four suspects were apprehended from Civil hospital as they tried to rescue an injured gang member from police custody.
The wounded suspect was admitted at the hospital after an encounter with the police in Kharadar on Tuesday. His accomplice was killed in the alleged shootout. According to witnesses, the encounter took place when the two suspects riding a motorcycle were looting passers-by on gunpoint. Police personnel, who were conducting routine checking, began to search for the culprits. The unidentified men opened fire at the police. Both of them were injured and taken into custody.
Later, the police shifted the suspects to the hospital, where one of them, identified as Waleed, succumbed to his injuries. The other suspect, Abdullah, was in the operation theatre at the hospital when the other suspects, who arrived with Abdullah's family, tried to take away the injured suspect.
Another contingent of law enforcers was summoned and a minor skirmish took place. The police detained at least four of these suspects. Following their detention, Abdullah's relatives staged a protest against the police.
The deceased and the injured suspects were residents of Jumman Shah, Lyari. Police officials claimed the suspects were associated with the Raja Pathan group of a Lyari-based gang. "They were also involved in various cases of street crime," claimed Lyari DSP Murtaza Mirani. "We are verifying the criminal record of the detainees." A case has yet to be registered.
