Inquiry committee presents initial findings to prime minister
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review the current petroleum situation in the country and directed for structural changes to ensure that such a situation does not arise again.
The two-member committee, which was tasked to investigate the matter, presented their initial findings to the premier, informing him that the petrol shortage was a serious failure on the part of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority as a regulator.
The meeting endorsed an earlier decision of suspending four senior officials responsible for the crisis. Further, PSO Finance Deputy Managing Director Sohail Butt was also held equally responsible for the shortages and orders were given for his suspension.
