Eunuch killed: ‘He died from bullets not head injury’
General secretary of eunuchs’ association alleged medical report showing death from head injury was false.
LAHORE:
Around 150 eunuchs on Friday gathered outside the Lahore Press Club to protest the death of a fellow eunuch during a police raid on Wednesday.
The protesters walked up to Faisal Chowk in front of the Punjab Assembly.
One of the speakers said that Amir’s death spoke volumes of police brutality.
Lala Niaz, general secretary of the eunuchs’ association, alleged that the medical report showing death from head injury was false.
Niaz said, “The police killed her. They shot her. They somehow obtained this report.”
Lala said that the police had pressured them to withdraw the complaint.
Lala admitted that one of the eunuchs at the party was drunk but rejected the accusation of firing by any of them. “If the police wanted to, they could have easily arrested the ones who were drinking,” Lala said.
Lala said that the police were not telling the whole truth, saying, that they were locked in a hall inside the studio and brutally thrashed ‘for no reason’ for hours.
Rana Tariq, brother of the deceased, said he believed that Amir had died from head injury. He said he did not blame the police.
Amir Saiyyan died on November 24, during a police raid at a party at Baari Studio, Multan Road. 52 eunuchs were arrested in the raid.
