KARACHI:
A bakery owner was shot dead in Nazimabad. The deceased was identified as Rehan, 42, son of Muhammad Atiq. The incident took place when unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire at him as he sat at his bakery. Rehan was shot multiple times and died at the spot. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the autopsy. Police officials said that deceased was associated with a religious organisation and belonged to the Barelvi school of thought. They suspect this was a sectarian attack and said that an investigation was being carried out.
In an unrelated incident, 10-year-old Hanif, son of Abdul Sattar, was injured in a firing incident near Gulshan-e-Buner, Landhi, within the limits of the Quaidabad police station on Saturday. He succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on Sunday. Police officials said that deceased was standing near his house when unidentified men resorted to indiscriminate firing. Two other, identified as Khan Gul and Khan Mehsud were also injured in the incident.
