Curbing misuse: Ten clerics booked under amplifier act

ISLAMABAD:
The police on Friday booked ten khateebs (prayer leaders) of different mosques, including Lal Masjid naib khateeb Maulana Amir Siddique, for misuse of the loudspeaker. The clerics violated the amplifier act during the Friday prayers. Cases were registered at Aabpara, Industrial Area and Noon police stations. A police spokesperson said that use of amplifier for any purpose other than Azan had been prohibited in the capital city since the 2013 Ashura clashes in Rawalpindi.   Four cases were registered at Noon police station, four at Industrial Area, and two at Aabpara.
