Three alleged members of a Lyari-based gang were shot dead in Lyari on Friday evening.
According to witnesses and police officials, the deceased men were affiliated with the Uzair Baloch group and were killed while trying to occupy a rival group’s stronghold area.
The incident took place at Rexor Lane, Kalakot. Witnesses and police officials said that over half a dozen alleged gangsters, belonging to the Uzair Baloch group, entered the Rexor Lane, which is considered a stronghold of the rival Baba Ladla group.
“They [members of the Baba Ladla group] were already there when the Uzair Baloch group’s members entered the area,” said a resident of the area requesting anonymity. “Baba Ladla’s men opened fire at them.” Three gangsters of the rival group were shot multiple times. They died shortly after the incident while the others managed to escape under the cover of fire. A passer-by, identified as Abdul Sattar, was also wounded in the crossfire.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where they were identified as Suleman alias Sallu, Tariq and Majid.
Following the incident, a large contingent of law enforcers reached the area and cordoned it off. A search operation followed. DSP Anwar Ali Shah confirmed the killings and said the police had also seized weapons from the possession of the deceased gangsters.
