Justice served: Two murder convicts awarded death penalty

BAHAWALPUR:


An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sentenced two brothers convicted of murder to death and fined them each Rs100,000. The judge acquitted two other accused in the case.


Prosecution said Zafar Iqbal and his brother Rashid Iqbal had been arrested for shooting and killing their relative Eid Nawaz on December 11, 2011, after he turned down a proposal for his daughter.

They said their brothers Nawaz and Imran was also included in the investigation.

On Thursday, the court awarded death penalty to Zafar and Rashid and acquitted Iqbal and Nawaz on benefit of doubt.
