KARACHI:

The First Women Bank Limited (FWBL) has failed to reach its targeted segment of the society thus far, industry sources said on Thursday.

The bank had the support of Prime Minister Business Youth Scheme, which had targeted disbursing 50% funds of the scheme to women. However, only the bank could disburse Rs169 million among 141 women, sources said.

“Such a huge financial mobilisation full of incentives and FWBL nets only 141 clients in 2013,” said a senior executive associated with the banking industry. “There is lack of professionalism on the part of FWBL,” the executive said.

Sources said the awareness drive of the bank featured few workshops and seminars at a number of places that could not attract women from any social strata of  society.

Sources further said FWBL administration ignored their senior employees and appointed their favourites on contract basis. The employees were unable to focus on their work which affected their performance.
