Not the right forum: Petition against Lahori’s hanging dismissed
LAHORE:
A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed Ikramul Haq alias Lahori’s plea seeking a stay for his execution fixed for January 17.
The bench told Ghulam Mustafa Mangan, the petitioner’s counsel, that this was not the appropriate forum for compromise. He was advised to approach a trial court instead. The bench sought to dismiss the petition, but the counsel withdrew it.
The trial court had already dismissed the application for a compromise with the family of Nayyer Hussain, whom Lahori had murdered in 1992.
A Faisalabad anti-terrorism court had reissued the warrants after the convict failed to reconcile with the complainant on January 12.
