The federal government has sought details of local and international non-governmental organisations (NGO) operating in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), provincial government officials told The Express Tribune on Thursday.



They maintained the federal government wants to keep checks and balances on NGOs operating in the country and has asked them to assist in the scrutiny process.


According to the officials, the federal government has requested them to provide contact details of NGOs, information about the nature of their work and specify the duration for which they have been functional in the province.


The federal government has also sought details of funding available to local and international NGOs. This includes information about organisations which are registered with the social welfare department in K-P, officials added.
