Powell leads WI ‘A’ on day two

Hosts trail Pakistan ‘A’ by 16 runs in second unofficial Test.

Kieran Powell led the West Indies ‘A’ into a strong position as the hosts reached 245 for four on the second day of the second unofficial Test.

The opener fell two short of his maiden first-class century as he gave West Indies a flying start with a 98-run knock. He  built up two crucial partnerships to lay the foundation of a strong reply to Pakistan’s 261 in their first-innings.

Powell shared a 60-run opening partnership with Kraigg Brathwaite and then a 91-run third-wicket stand with Assad Fudadin. Jonathan Carter guided West Indies after Powell was dismissed, finishing the day unbeaten on 44. For Pakistan, Zulfiqar Babar grabbed two wickets after conceding 70 runs.

Earlier, the visitors added another 22 runs before being bowled out. Khurram Manzoor made 104 to be the highest scorer for Pakistan.
