Abuse Of Power: ‘Jail officials beat me for no reason’

Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Amjad Iqbal on Wednesday ordered Civil Lines police to register a case against the superintendent of District Jail and six other jail employees for torturing a prisoner. Abdul Wahhab, a prisoner at Faisalabad district jail, had filed a petition in the session court saying barrack head Asif Abbas, Senior Tower head Aamir, Administration Officer Rashid Gill and Asghar Baloch, Rashid Wahla and warder Kifayatullah had beaten him on the orders of jail superintendent without provocation. He said his vision had been permanently damaged as a result. The judge ordered the Civil Lines SHO to register a case against the superintendent of the district jail and submit a copy of the FIR to the court as soon as possible.
