Entitlement: Govt amends pension rules

Following directions of the ombudsman, the government has amended the Punjab Pensions Rules, a notification issued on Wednesday said.
According to the new rule, a divorced daughter and the unmarried sister of a deceased government employee will be entitled to receive a grant of family pension for life, after the deceased’s widow, infants and unmarried daughters. The Finance Department has issued an amended notification and copies of the notification have been sent to all administrative secretaries, heads of the attached departments, DCOs, the Lahore High Court, the accountant general of the Punjab, district advisers of the ombudsman, and district accounts officers for compliance with effect from May 15, 2013
