He produced the longest Urdu ghazal consisting of 30,000 verses

KARACHI:
Urdu poet Pirzada Ashique Keranvi died on Wednesday owing to cardiac failure at his residence in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. He was 80 years old. He made his significant share of contributions to Urdu literature. He produced the longest Urdu ghazal consisting of 30,000 verses. This ghazal is widely believed to be the most extended poetic creation ever written in Urdu in the form of a ghazal. Keranvi was the author of many books but most of his works remained unpublished due to a lack of support and acknowledgement. Keranvi was a Karachi-based Urdu poet who has a number of books and other publications to his credit, including Quaid Ke Hazoor and Masnavi Tulo-e-Sahar.
