NEW DELHI, INDIA:
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has called for the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan in order for both countries to find a "long standing solution", The Times of India reported today .
"I am concerned about what has happened in that area in Jammu & Kashmir. We have seen loss of lives along the Line of Control. I have suggested and strongly recommended to the [Indian] prime minister and foreign minister that there should be continuing dialogue so this can be resolved as soon as possible," said Ban Ki-Moon regarding frequent cross-border fire in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months.
Tensions have recently been escalating with four Pakistani civilians were killed in ‘unprovoked firing and heavy shelling’ by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in the Zafarwal and Shakargarh sectors along the Sialkot Working Boundary on January 6.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has stated that Pakistan wants a constructive, sustained and result-oriented dialogue with India on all issues of mutual concern. He also made it clear that a dialogue with New Delhi sidestepping the Kashmir dispute was out of the question.
