Nine people were killed and several others sustained injuries in various mishaps in Malakand Division and Abbottabad district on Tuesday.
Four people were killed and 13 others injured in separate accidents in Malakand protected area due to Tuesday’s rainfall. The first accident took place when a bus going from Swat to Karachi collided head on with a coaster coming from Dir. Three people, including Shah Wazir, Gohar and an unidentified person died on the spot, while 10 passengers were injured.
The wounded were rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Dargai where they were said to be stable.
Another accident occurred in Batkhela when a passenger van swerved out of control and overturned in the heavy rain. Officials said one of the onboard passengers, Muzamil, was killed on the spot and three others were severely injured.
Malakand levies registered all these incidents separately. Their report mentioned all these accidents were caused by the rain.
Meanwhile, the driver of a jeep lost control and the vehicle fell into a ditch on Mingora bypass road, killing Afaq and driver Asmat Ali on the spot. Three others in the jeep sustained injuries and were taken to the Saidu Teaching Hospital. The injured were identified as Fazal Wahab, Akhtar Ali and Fazal Rahman.
Separately, a car hit two children on the road in Pir Kalay, Matta tehsil. Three-year-old Abdul Saboor died on the spot, while his sister was injured. The driver managed to flee after the accident and police have started an investigation.

Over in Abbottabad district, a passenger was killed and three others including the driver were injured when a jeep plunged into a roadside gorge in Dunga Gali on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased passenger was identified as Mumtaz. Driver Shahid, Mirdad and Haji Sharif were all severely injured.
