21ST AMENDMENT: LHCBA to move plea against military courts
LAHORE:
A general house meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar Association on Monday gave permission to its elected leadership to challenge the 21st Constitutional Amendment before the Supreme Court. The Bar’s secretary Mian Ahmad Chachar presented the resolution before the house. It was passed unanimously. The secretary said lawyers had unanimously rejected the 21st Constitutional Amendment at a conference held last week. He said the Bar’s cabinet wanted a mandate from the house to approach the apex court to move against military courts. He also announced that a convention of lawyers’ representatives across the country will be held on January 28. They will discuss the matter after which they would file a petition before the SC.
