Missing: Police yet to recover company manager Hussain Pathan
Kidnappers demand release of their relatives who were arrested by police in a raid
SUKKUR:
Sukkur police have yet to rescue Muhammad Hussain Pathan, the manager of a pharmaceutical company, who was kidnapped from Sukkur bypass on January 6.
Police officials claim that much progress has been made for Pathan's safe recovery and are optimistic that he will be home within the next couple of days.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, the victim's father-in-law, Muhammad Saeed Mughal, said that Pathan had left Sukkur for Larkana at about 10am on January 6. At around 11:45am, they received a call from his company's Larkana office, saying that Muhammad Hussain had not reached there. When the family tried to contact him, he did not answer the phone. Pathan's phone was finally attended by a man who identified himself as Ehsan Jatoi. He told Pathan's wife that they had kidnapped her husband, adding that he was not interested in ransom money; rather he would release Pathan in exchange for the release of his family members who were arrested by the police during a raid in Bachal Shah Miani.
Mughal said they had contacted the SSP and relayed the kidnappers' demands. The police officials had assured them of early recovery of Pathan. The kidnappers had called Pathan's wife again on January 10 and repeated their demands. Mughal added that they were constantly in touch with the police and hoped that Pathan will be rescued soon.
Police claim to have raided several places and arrested suspects who have provided valuable information regarding the whereabouts of the victim. They are hopeful that the information will lead to Pathan's recovery soon.
Sukkur SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio told The Express Tribune that they had already identified the kidnappers. He said that the suspects were members of an inter-provincial gang with some associates in Khairpur and Dera Allah Yar, Balochistan.
The police have arrested some of the associates from the two areas and information provided by them will hopefully lead to Pathan's safe recovery.
