Expert’s advice: Judges urged to remain informed
Effective case management and examination of evidence are vital for the justice system of the country: SC judge
ISLAMABAD:
Supreme Court Justice Gulzar Ahmed has said effective case management and examination of evidence are vital for the justice system of the country.
He was addressing additional district and sessions judges at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) on Saturday at the concluding ceremony of a week-long training on “Management of Sessions Trial and Appreciation of Evidence”. Judges from all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan attended the training.
“I believe that effective case management, trial session, and appreciation of evidence are central to an efficient justice delivery in the criminal justice system,” said the apex court judge.
He urged judges to keep updating their knowledge of laws, emerging trends, tradition and societal norms in order to be in a better position to examine the evidence.
FJA Director General Dr Faqir Hussain said all stakeholders including the bench, bar and court personnel are part of the justice delivery system.
“Harmonious relations between bench and the bar, coupled with training for the court officials are essential to achieve the objective of speedy administration of justice,” he said, adding that both bench and bar should strive to maintain public confidence in the judiciary and rule of law.
Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi has appointed District and Sessions Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan as the high court’s registrar.
