K-P Project: Nine districts to get electricity
Senator Zahid Khan directed the Ministry of Water and Power to improve the capacity of transmission lines
ISLAMABAD:
The Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power said on Wednesday nine districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa would be provided electricity after completion of a 220-kilovolt grid station in Malakand. The committee discussed progress reports on the grid station and also directed National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) high-ups to submit a detailed report on the Neelum Jhelum power project regarding the purchase of machinery and completion of the project. Senator Zahid Khan directed the Ministry of Water and Power to improve the capacity of transmission lines, which were a major challenge in power shortages. He told the ministry to release approved funds as soon as possible to the owners of land. The DCO Malakand and NTDC managing director assured the committee that all payments to 39 landowners would be completed within a week.
