Man sent on judicial remand

MULTAN:

A district and sessions judge on Wednesday sent a 25-year-old man accused of killing his two-year-old son on a three-day judicial remand.

Police told the court that Asif, a resident of Farooqpura, had married 24-year-old Tabinda a month ago.

He said the woman had two children – two-year-old Ali hamza and five-year-old Laiba - from her first husband.

They said on Tuesday morning, Asif had picked up Hamza to play with him.

They said Tabinda had asked him not to play with the baby as she had not put on his diaper. Asif ignored his wife’s advice and a few minutes later, the child urinated on him.

They said Asif started shouting at the baby and threw it towards a wall. Laiba ran towards her brother to save him but Asif also beat her. Police said he also beat his wife when she tried to intervene.

Police said the infant died after crying and bleeding heavily for 10 minutes.  Qutubpur police arrested Asif in a raid a few hours later.
