Two Rangers gunned down in encounter

Two men from the Rangers were shot dead when they conducted a raid at a militants' hideout in the outskirts of the city on Tuesday. The incident took place when the Rangers conducted a raid on information about the presence of militants belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Landhi's Khurramabad area. 



Sources claim that the militants opened fire at the Rangers when they were busy cordoning off the area. As a result of the firing, two Rangers were injured and succumbed to their injuries shortly after. The deceased were identified as Naushad Hussain and Ameer Hussain. A passerby identified as Jahangir was also injured in the firing and was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.  The Rangers called in for back up along with the police as the militants put up a tough fight. Eventually, they managed to cordon off the entire neighbourhood and detained around five suspects during the operation. According to the Rangers spokesperson, they had detained suspects during the raid, including two women from the militants' hideout while weapons were also seized. Sources claimed that suspects detained during the operation were affiliated with the TTP and were taken to an undisclosed location for further questioning. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Other raids

In Gulistan-e-Jauhar, two suspected target killers were arrested during a raid conducted by law enforcers in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Sources in the police identified the men as Imran and Sultan and said they were affiliated with the Sultan Moosa group of land grabbers. Suspects were taken to an undisclosed location for further questioning. An alleged target killer identified as Amjad Ali was arrested by the Saeedabad police. Police officials also claimed to have recovered a bomb and pistol from him. An investigation in being carried out.
