No mercy: Bail plea of rape suspect dismissed

A deputy prosecutor told the court that the petitioner had been found guilty in the investigation

LAHORE:
Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed a bail petition of a man accused of raping a child. His counsel said the Sanda police had arrested his client on rape charges but had failed to produce any cogent evidence. He said the trial court had not framed charges despite a lapse of six months. He asked the court to release the petitioner on bail. A deputy prosecutor told the court that the petitioner had been found guilty in the investigation. He said the victim’s DNA test report had established the petitioner’s involvement in the crime.
