Schools are being merged to improve government school's management, said commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui.



He was addressing a meeting with the steering committee of Sindh Education Reform Programme (Serp) at his office. World Bank representative Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, deputy commissioners of all districts, representatives of the Sindh education department, finance department and Regional Education Support Program (RESP) were also present.


According to the Serp plan, 3,479 schools will be merged into 680 schools. Paracha appreciated that Karachi had completed the merging process of schools within time and more than the targeted number.


He said 1,000 schools would be merged to make 200 campuses a year.


The target of the first year was to make 200 campuses until March 31; however, this had already been achieved in October last year.
