Murder case: Political worker remanded to police custody
KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent on remand a suspect, affiliated with a political party, for 14 days for his involvement in the murder of a rival political leader.
The ATC-II sent the suspect, Ramiz Sheikh, to police custody on physical remand till January 17 when the Pakistan Rangers produced him before the court after detaining him for 90 days under the Pakistan Protection Act, 2014.
According to the prosecution, Sheikh, accompanied by his three absconding accomplices, had killed Najeebur Rehman, a local leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
The suspect was arrested by the Rangers in a targeted raid in October. The challan does not mention which political party Sheikh was associated with.
