Blaze: Poultry farm, two houses gutted in separate fires

Fires erupted in a poultry farm and two houses in separate incidents in Mansehra, police said on Saturday.



The poultry farm of Safdar Khan in Naseemabad village of Koonsh Valley caught fire on Friday evening as a result of which 5,000 chicks perished. Khan had left the farm for dinner when the incident occurred. He told the police he and other villagers tried to extinguish the fire, but two sheds were destroyed while the fire also claimed 5,000 broilers. He estimated incurring a loss of Rs3 million.


Meanwhile, in Daigray Beran Gali village, two houses were gutted when a fire broke out due to a short circuit. Police said Muhammad Zaman and his brother Irfan were away attending a wedding ceremony in the neighbouring village when a fire erupted in one of the rooms of their residence. The fire soon engulfed four rooms of two houses. Complainants said the fire destroyed all their belongings including cash and jewellery.
