.

RAWALPINDI:
A two-judge bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Rawalpindi bench on Thursday upheld the death sentence of two convicts who were sentenced over the 2009 bombing of a National Bank of Pakistan branch in the garrison city. The bench, comprising Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi and Justice Qazi Muhammd Ameen, dismissed the inter-court appeal of Ghulam Nabi and Abdul Malik, and upheld the military court’s death penalty verdict. Another petition, related to the suicide attack on former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, was dismissed by the court in which Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Adnan and Wajid Mehmood were found guilty of aiding the attackers. They were also sentenced to death by a military court. Counsels for the accused had appealed for repeal of the death sentence.
