Show of support: Khattak backs JI’s peace conference
CM Khattak lauded JI’s role in eradicating corruption and bringing positive change to the province.
PESHAWAR:
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has termed Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) ‘Martyrs for Peace’ conference a step in the right direction in the aftermath of the brazen Army Public School attack.
According to a handout issued on Thursday, Khattak met a delegation of JI leaders at the CM’s Secretariat on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Khattak drew attention to efforts made by its coalition partners to help the government ensure peace. JI has been a coalition partner of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in K-P since the government took charge in May 2013.
Khattak also lauded JI’s role in eradicating corruption and bringing positive change to the province. The handout quoted the chief minister as saying that both PTI and JI have emphasised on providing people with a political system which does not exploit them.
He also voiced hope that all coalition partners will enter the next phase of local government polls with confidence, the handout added.
The chief minister also met Pakistani test cricketer Younus Khan, stated another handout issued by the CM Secretariat on Thursday.
Khan arrived in Peshawar on Tuesday and paid a visit to Combined Military Hospital and expressed solidarity with those injured in the brazen December 16 attack.
