KARACHI: Sindh government have banned pillion riding in the city for January 3 and 4 (Saturday and Sunday) ahead of Rabiul Awal 12.

According to a notification issued by Sindh home department on Thursday, the ban would be implemented by midnight on Friday and would be remain in effect till midnight on Sunday.

The notification said that the ban would not be applicable on women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, disabled persons, journalists, personnel of law enforcing agencies in uniform and employees of essential services.

Through another notification, the home department said it was imposing a ban under Section 144 of Cr. PC on carrying all kinds of weapons from midnight of Friday till midnight of Sunday .

It also noted that the home ministry had also sent request to the federal interior ministry for suspension of mobile phone services in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Jamshoro.
