Court orders: Stay on hiring of 25 vets
HYDERABAD:
The Sindh High Court on Tuesday stayed the appointment of 25 veterinarians in Tharparkar district, where thousands of livestock animals have reportedly died due to drought-related illnesses. The court also issued notices to the respondents including the secretary and the livestock department director-general to submit their replies. Petitioner Dr Amrat Meghwadh, who appeared as a candidates in the December 9 interviews and test, claimed that the provincial livestock and fisheries minister, Jam Khan Shoro, distributed the job orders among his favourites. “Neither any written test was conducted nor any interview,” said the petition. The vets were hired on a contract but the petitioner maintained that the due process of appointment has been violated. He requested the court order the respondent to readvertise the posts and to carry out transparent appointments.
