Search operation: Afghan national arrested from Attock

ISLAMABAD:
Law enforcement agencies in Attock arrested an Afghan national, who worked as a translator with Nato forces in Afghanistan, from the cantonment area on Tuesday. The arrest occurred during a search operation in the district.  Police officials said they nabbed several suspects from sensitive areas of Attock, and the translator, identified as Muhammad Zahir Shah, was among them. During preliminary interrogation, Zahir told the police he is a resident of Kabul and moved illegally to Pakistan a few years ago for fear of Taliban attacks against him as he worked with the international security forces. The police have registered a case against him under the Foreign Act as he could not produce any legal authorisation of his presence in Pakistan.  When contacted, City SHO Inspector Israr Satti confirmed the arrest and said they are investigating the case. He added that the suspect has been sent to the Attock district jail.
