Agriculture: Subsidies for drill sowing machines

Punjab’s agriculture department has advised farmers to apply for drill sowing machines by January 20, which will be provided at subsidised rates. Agriculture spokesman Naveed Asmat Kahlon told progressive growers in a meeting on Tuesday that farmers having land holding of five to 25 acres and a tractor can apply. However, those who cultivate land hired from owners or those who wish to extend services of pulses sowing in rows can also apply. He stated that MNAs, MPAs, senators, their family members, all employees of agriculture and revenue departments were not entitled to avail the scheme. All the conditions for participation were mentioned through forms in detail on the website. Final list of participants would be prepared till February 2 and a draw would be held on February 6. The machines will then be provided to farmers on February 19.
