The red carpet in 2014 was more on fire than ever
KARACHI:
What a year in trends it has been, Fabulistas! The red carpet in 2014 was more on fire than ever: We saw stars being more experimental and out of the box, while also pulling out all the stops in classic, closet-staple trends.
Pakistan’s leading names were not afraid to illustrate their best game — be it provocative sheer prêt designs or intricately tailored lawn patterns. Sana Safinaz, a fan favourite for years, topped the reader’s list of winners for lawn. Élan, on the other hand was given kudos by us for exhibiting a lawn anthology that was unexpectedly inimitable. Dresses became statement pieces this year with lavishly crafted luxury prêt collections, with Sania Maskatiya acing both our list and fans’ choice. Nothing like sleek competition to reassure what was extra sharp this year, especially on the red carpets. That being said, Meesha Shafi’s innovative style sense took our breath away and Wiqar Ali khan’s timeless look scored him high fives from both us and his mammoth fan following.
Surprisingly, the Male Model category votes surpassed all other categories by bagging 2,574 votes, while the Female Model category grabbing a mere 1,121 votes. The least voted category was the Luxury Prêt, with a meagre 381 votes in total.
