Whitewash of Australia in Tests

The hosts won 2-0 and broke a plethora of records along the way.

On the back of being whitewashed 3-0 in the ODI series, there were very few who were giving Pakistan a chance going into the Test series against bogey side Australia.

When the hosts lost both openers with just seven on the board, those watching at home feared the worst. However, it was all Pakistan from there on in one of the most dramatic turnaround in fortune in their recent cricket history, as a Younus Khan hundred on the first day set the tone for what was to come.

The inexperienced bowling attack impressed, especially spin duo Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah, and Pakistan were able to win the match by a convincing 221 runs.

Expected to come stronger in the second Test, Australia wilted. Record after record was broken in the series as Misbahul Haq scored the joint-fastest Test hundred and Younus became Pakistan’s highest century-scorer. Pakistan would emerge victors by 356 runs, their highest winning margin in Test history, to take the series 2-0.
