LAHORE: Motorway Police announced on Monday that patrolling vehicles would lead convoys of motorists during poor visibility on account of fog on the highway. “We have taken various road-safety steps to avoid fog-related accidents,” Motorway Police Public Relations Officer Imran Ahmad Shah said in a statement. He said the best time to travel on the motorway these days was between 10am and 6pm. “Avoid driving on the motorway in the morning and the evening when there is more fog. Increase your count distance by five seconds instead of usual two behind another vehicle. Never rush or speed up to get out of fog.” Shah asked motorists to adjust the defroster and use fog lights. He said motorists might call Motorway Police’s helpline, 130, for guidance. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecast foggy conditions during night and morning hours in various Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan and Bahawalpur.
