Suspected smuggler: One nabbed for possession of heroin
ANF holds yearly review meeting.
RAWALPINDI:
Officials of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) deployed at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport detained a suspected passenger, identified as Abdur Razzaq, a resident of Gujranwala on Monday.
A thorough search of the suspect and his luggage resulted in the recovery of 1.02kg of heroin, which was tactfully concealed in his shoes. Razzaq was scheduled to depart for Barcelona, Spain) by a PIA flight. Cases have been registered and further investigation is under way.
Commanders conference
A conference was also held at ANF headquarters on Monday which was chaired by ANF Director-General Major General Khawar Hanif and attended by commanders of all the regional directorates and senior staff officers.
At the onset of the conference, the year’s performance of the force was analysed and next year’s targets were set forth, the release said further. During the conference, aspects of enforcement, intelligence, assets investigation, prosecution and other financial-administrative matters were deliberated.
It was also informed that ANF carried out seven operations against drug runners across the country throughout the year and recovered drugs worth Rs7.343 billion in the international market.
