Protection: Security beefed up

Operations wing of district police carried out a general hold-up from 8am to 11am on Saturday. Police impounded eight cars because drivers were not carrying registration documents and four for reporting unauthorised number plates. Five cases were also registered against those driving cars with tinted glass or green number plates. DIG Haider Ashraf said that the bomb disposal squad had been put on high alert during the hold-up. He said that security at important buildings had been beefed up. “Security at entrances and exits of the city has also been tightened,” the DIG said. He said that police officials had been ordered to contact the bomb disposal squad if they found any suspicious luggage. Police also registered two cases of possession of illicit weapons and drug peddling.
