Stage play: ‘Free Idiots’ enthralls audience
Salman Sunny writes and directs drama
RAWALPINDI:
A stage play “Free Idiots” mesmerised the audience at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Friday. The drama was written and directed by Salman Sunny. Haji Gulzar Awan, Naheed Manzoor and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed were also among the audience. The play highlighted social issues with satire, irony and comedy. The story revolved around Shamso’s family and his three sons Shehansha, Alampanah, and Badshah. Shamsu’s sons are lazy and take multiple loans on interest from another character Bala. At last Bala demanded Shamso to sell his house to pay back his sons’ loan and threatened him of an FIR if he did not. The play ended with Shamsu’s sons realising their mistakes and pledging to work hard to earn a respectable livelihood. Waqar Ahmad said RAC was trying to revive the stage culture and provide good entertainment to public. The play will also be staged today (December 28).
