Raising concerns: KCRC demand reduced bus fares
KARACHI:
The Karachi Commuters’ Rights Campaign (KCRC) have demanded a cut in bus fares in the city as the government is expected to slash oil prices from January 1 in the coming year.
The KCRC has expressed dismay that the public transporters of Karachi did not give benefit of the last two cuts in oil prices to the commuters of the city and sadly, the Sindh transport department also remained hand in glove with the ‘transporters’ mafia’.
The KCRC reiterated its demands that all public transport vehicles in Karachi be painted red, the so-called ‘coaches’ be declared minibuses as they do not run on seat-by-seat basis, rooftops from all minibuses be removed, minibuses be replaced with wide-bodied buses, new bus routes be announced and the Karachi Circular Railway be revived.
