Police Promotion: Extension of contracts requested

CCPO Wains also requested IGP Sukhera to release their salaries that have been pending for two months

LAHORE:
CCPO Amin Wains penned a letter to IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on Friday requesting him to extend the contracts of ex-army men. The men had been hired on two-year contracts under the administrative control of the Punjab Constabulary in 2012 due to shortage of manpower and the then prevalent law and order situation. CCPO Wains also requested IGP Sukhera to release their salaries that have been pending for two months. A senior police official told The Express Tribune that the contracts had a termination without notice clause. Hundreds of ex-army men had staged a protest demonstration in front of Lahore Press Club on Wednesday demanding their contracts to be renewed and their salaries to be released. Zubair, one of the men, told The Express Tribune that they were indebted to CCPO Wains for looking into the matter. He said he hoped that the issue would be quickly resolved.
