Watershed in history: CM welcomes national consensus on terrorism

CM says nation will be rid of scourge of terrorism.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the firm decisions taken by the national leadership unanimously would rid the nation of the scourge of terrorism.


Sharif was speaking to a delegation of Pakistan Muslim-League-Nawaz (PML-N) activists and officials. He said terrorism would be crushed with national unity. Sharif said the entire nation was united against terrorism. He said the implementation of the national leadership’s unanimous decisions would yield positive results. Sharif said the nation would overcome the challenges confronting it under the PML-N government.



The chief minister said the nation was at a critical juncture in its history as terrorism had caused great losses in the economic and commercial sectors.

He said over 40,000 Pakistanis had been martyred in the war on terrorism. Sharif said terrorists and their sympathisers would be given exemplary punishment. He said a historic consensus had been reached on the national action plan and the military, political and religious leadership were on the same page regarding the need to rid the nation of the scourge of terrorism. He said the time was ripe to put an end to terrorism and punish those responsible for killing Pakistanis. Sharif said the Peshawar carnage had saddened the entire nation. He said the perpetrators of the massacre had tried to jeopardise the nation’s future.

Sharif said the carnage was unprecedented in the history of mankind. He said those responsible for the massacre would be given exemplary punishment.

Sharif said the time was ripe to take decisive action against terrorists and put an end to the menace to make Pakistan a citadel of peace. He said the unanimous stance of the national leadership against terrorists in the wake of the Peshawar massacre was commendable. Sharif said the blood of those martyred would not go to waste. The chief minister said the nation would emerge victorious in the war on terrorism at all costs.



Deaths in accident

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed sadness over loss of life in a road accident near Gujjar Khan. The chief minister offered his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed officials to provide those injured with superior medical facilities.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed sadness on the demise of Pakistan Film Directors’ Association life chairman Aslam Dar. Sharif prayed for the soul of the deceased in his condolence message to the family of the late producer.
