Top seeds floored in DG Rangers’ event
Saqib, Tayyab oust Zaman, Danish from squash championship

Seventh seed Sheikh Saqib Yousuf knocked out second seed Farhan Zaman while fifth seed Tayyab Aslam stunned third seed Danish Atlas Khan in the quarter-finals of the 8th DG Rangers Sindh National Championship on Thursday.
The most thrilling match of the day was witnessed between Saqib and Zaman, with the latter leading the match 2-0 initially after a marathon fight.
However, Saqib left the more experienced Zaman stunned with a tremendous comeback, which helped him win 3-2 with scores of 11-13, 14-16, 11-7, 11-8 and 11-7 after 79 minutes.
The Tayyab-Danish clash was also a five-setter as the roller-coaster ride ended with Tayyab coming out on top by scores of 6-11, 11-7, 3-11, 11-6 and 11-8.
Meanwhile, Farhan Mehboob beat Ammad Farid in straight games while Zahir Shah won 3-2 against Mansoor Zaman.
In the female category, eighth seed Zoya Khalid caused the biggest upset, winning 3-2 against top seed Sadia Gul by scores of 9-11, 9-11, 11-2, 11-5 and 11-4, while second seed Samar Anjum had to fight hard before overcoming Roshana Mehboob in a five-setter.
