Joining hands: JI invites ANP chief to peace conference
Leaders of all political parties to unite against terrorism under one platform.
PESHAWAR:
Leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) met Awami National Party (ANP) leaders on Wednesday to invite the latter’s chief Asfandyar Wali Khan to a peace conference.
JI’s Peshawar chief Advocate Baharullah Khan led a delegation to ANP’s headquarters, Bacha Khan Markaz, to invite leaders of the party for the peace conference that will be arranged by JI for the martyrs of Army Public School, stated a press release issued by JI.
On the occasion, Baharullah said JI will invite leaders of all political parties of the country and gather the nation on a single platform against terrorism. “The Peshawar tragedy was Pakistan’s 9/11,” he said.
The delegation met ANP Central General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Sardar Hussain Babak, Bushra Gohar, Jamila Gillani and Shagufta Malik and handed them the invitation for Asfandyar for the upcoming conference.
In a separate statement issued by ANP, Mian Iftikhar Hussain urged religious and political leaders to unite for the cause. He said such conferences should be held time and again till the last terrorist is eliminated from the country. He appreciated JI leaders for taking the initiative for the conference.
A JI delegation will visit Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s provincial headquarters on Thursday (today) to invite Maulana Fazlur Rehman to the conference.
