Unhappy Family: ‘Police ignoring my bigamy complaint’
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Tuesday from the Shahdra SHO over a petition filed by a woman, seeking the registration of a case against her husband for marrying another woman. Petitioner Sughra stated that she had married Muhammad Shamshad a few years ago and they had a son. “We were leading a happy life. However, a few months back, my husband’s attitude towards us started changing. When I asked him about it, he denied that anything was wrong. A few days ago, he returned home from work and went to the roof. I followed him and found that he was talking to a woman over the phone. I later learnt that he had married that woman,” Sughra stated. She claimed that her husband had beaten her up for eavesdropping on him and had also threatened her with dire consequences. “I then approached the Shahdara police and asked them to register an FIR against my husband for deceiving me and then beating me up, but the SHO did not listen to me,” she said. She requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case against his husband.
