Ineffectual: KCCI questions FBR’s performance
Urges FBR to publicise details of any action taken against tax evaders that were identified by FBR in 2011
KARACHI:
Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra has urged Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Bajwa to publicise details of any action taken against tax evaders that were identified by FBR in 2011.
He said FBR has not been able to take action against them and they continue to enjoy the benefits of staying outside the tax net. Hence, taxpayers are burdened.
KCCI president said the loyal taxpayers contributed around 65% to the national exchequer, but FBR has constantly been issuing them notices, and they, in return, approach KCCI every day for assistance.
He expressed reservations over FBR’s intention to sign a MoU with SBP for sharing information pertaining to suspicious transaction reports.
