Marching against terror: Lawyers protest against APS attack

Say all political parties on the same page.

PESHAWAR:
The legal fraternity organised a peace walk on Tuesday to condemn the brutal slaying of 150 people, mostly children, at the Army Public School (APS).

Lawyers associated with Peshawar District Bar Association and Peshawar High Court Bar Association walked from the premises of the district court on Khyber Road to the school just off Warsak Road. They carried placards inscribed with slogans against the cowardly act of killing schoolchildren.

The district association was headed by its President Razaullah Khan, while the PHCBA was led by its President Muhammad Isa Khan.

The advocates lit candles at the gate of the APS and left bouquets of flowers to remember the fallen. They also prayed for their departed souls and for the swift recovery of those injured in the assault.

The lawyers, numbering around 300, stated the victims’ families were not alone in this time of need. “The APS attack united political parties and brought all of them on the same page,” PHCBA Secretary General Muhammad Ayaz Khan told the media. “It is time the government takes a decisive step to eliminate the decades-long scourge of terrorism.”

He stated it was the most tragic incident in the history of Pakistan and the nation should wake up to prevent such incidents in the future and protect the coming generations.
