Meanwhile, NAPC resumes meeting to finalise recommendations to form a 'quick action plan' to combat terrorism
ISLAMABAD:
Vowing to wage war against militancy without any discrimination or exception, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday cancelled all his scheduled engagements to preside over a high-level security meeting.
The premier will spend the entire day discussing security issues and reforms in the national policy.
According to a PM Office statement, PM Nawaz is consulting members of his cabinet’s legal team and military leadership to review immediate steps to be taken to curb terrorism.
"Every aspect is under consideration; terror and its root causes both will be addressed,” the PM said as per the statement.
"We cannot forget and forgive the atrocities committed by these barbarians in Peshawar, Quetta and Wagha," he added.
The premier also said that every citizen, irrespective of their religion, sect and caste, will be protected
"No cause is holier than protecting the life and property of every citizen of Pakistan," he stressed.
According to sources, civil-military leadership is working day and night on how to address the flaws in the criminal justice system, madrassah reforms, counter-extremists narratives and changing syllabus.
Further, the prime minister has convened a meeting of parliamentary leaders tomorrow at 11am to finalise the national action plan on counter terrorism.
The second session of the meeting to review immediate and effective steps against terrorism is underway.
NAPC to discuss terror experts’ proposals
Meanwhile, the National Action Plan Committee (NAPC) resumed its meeting in Parliament Tuesday morning in a bid to finalise its recommendations to form a 'quick action plan' to combat terrorism, after going through proposals put forward by terrorism experts.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali headed the meeting, attended by representatives of all major political parties. The party leaders discussed the action plan and will later hand it over to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for implementation
Civilian law enforcement agencies and the military will execute this action plan in light of the NAPC's recommendations.
The national action plan committee has till now agreed on nine of 17 points presented by terrorism experts yesterday.
The committee will meet again for a second session at 6pm today.
